Places to Visit in Dharchula

Om Parvat:

Fondly known as Chhota Kailash or Adi Kailash, Om Parvat is considered as an important religious site by Hindus. With a great resemblance to Mount Kailash in Tibet, the view is simply bewitching and enchanting.

Jauljibi:

A beautiful place located 23 km from Darchula with equally splendid surroundings; Jauljibi is place of confluence of two rivers namely: Gori River and Kali River.

Kali River:

A holy river flowing through the town separates Uttaranchal from Nepal. Named after the Goddess Kali, it is one of the most sought after destination in the area.

Chirkila Dham:

Almost at a distance of 20 km from Darchula, Chirkila Dam is built on the River Kali. With a capacity of producing 1500kW of energy and adjoined by a 1 km lake, the dam will soon be able to supply for water sports facility by the state government.

Shoppings:

Darchula do not have a lot of shopping options. A small market with only 6-7 shops are there. You will mostly find items like coffee, perfumes, jewelry and clothes brought by Nepalese vendors.

Adi Kailash:

Adi Kailash is popularly known as Chhota Kailash. Being a replica of Mt. Kailash in Tibet within the Indian territory, Adi Kailash is immensely popular among devotees of Shiva.

How to Reach

  • By Air

    Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport to Darchula at a distance of 317 km. It is a domestic airbase which is further connected to Delhi through regular flights. Taxis are easily available outside the airport which is connected to your destination via good road network.

  • By Train

    Tanakpur Railway Station, well connected to many major cities of India is the nearest station to Darchula at a distance of 218 km. Buses and taxis are readily available outside the station and are well approachable to your destination.

  • By Road

    Darchula is easily connected by road via other cities of Uttaranchal like Almora, Tanakpur and Champawat, etc. State-owned buses and private buses run regularly from Delhi connecting this town to the neighbouring states and other North Indian states.
