The Temples Are Nestled Amidst The Deodar Forest With A Stream Flowing At Its Backdrop. The Temples Depict Ancient Indian Sculpture And Date Back To The Gupta Dynasty. Mrityunjay Temple Is The Oldest Temple In Jageshwar While Dandeshwar Temple Is The Largest. More Than 25 Inscriptions Of Different Ages Are Found In The Temple Premise. While The Summer Is Pleasant In This Area, Monsoon May Bring Heavy Rainfall And Winter Season Is Chill.

Places to Visit in Jageshwar

Mahamrityunjaya Temple:

Shiva is believed to be the savior and redeemer of all his devotees, even delivering them from death, or as in Hindu mythology, the ruler of the underworld, Yamraj, who collects the souls of the deceased from the terrestrial realm.

Jageshwar Mahadev Temple:

This temple is by far the most visited temple in the whole complex, dedicated to the incarnation of Shiva in the form of a child. The story goes as Shiva being an attractive alpha male to all the women folk of the village, where he used to meditate.

Archaeological Museum:

The Archaeological Museum, maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India, houses yet another exquisite collection of the anciently carved idols and old world representations of the deities.

Dandeshwar Temple:

An epitome of Nagar style architecture, the Dandeshwar Temple is as tall as you can crane your neck, quite literally. It is believed to house the shrine of Lord Shiva as the staff bearer, hence the name Dandeshwar, or the bearer of the 'dand', the staff.

Camping:

Camping is another good way to spend time with your family and friends to spend some quality time in the lap of nature. Being situated amidst the dense deodar trees, Jageshwar is an ideal place to camp and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Yoga and Meditation:

Because of its tranquil and calm environment free from hustle bustle and city clammer and surrounded by dense deodar, Jageshwar is an ideal place for meditation where one could come close to nature.

    Pantnagar airport is the closest airport at a distance of about 150 km. Public and private transport options are available to commute to Jageshwar very easily.

  • By Train

    The Kathgodam railway station at a distance of 90 km is the connecting station. Major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow are accessible from here. Taxis are easily available for hire from the Kathgodam railway station.

  • By Road

    Jageshwar is the most easily accessible town in district Almora, with buses, rented cab services readily available. The nearest connecting cities are those of Ranikhet at 83 km, Binsar at 54 km and Kausani at 84 km.
